Bristol Food Producers is a dynamic organisation supporting local food producers, retail outlets, distributors, restaurants and supporter members to engage with each other with the goal of supporting a local food network.

Our four main priorities are:

  • Access to land to support food production, especially in Bristol’s peri-urban fringe
  • Access to appropriate and accessible training for agroecological growing and farming
  • Access to local markets, supporting a range of routes for producers
  • Building a strong and supportive network to encourage cooperation and build solidarity between producers

We were established in 2015 after a period of consultation with stakeholders such as local growers, businesses and policy makers, and are formed as a Community Benefit Society.

We are recruiting new volunteer Directors to our board so that we can continue to support our members and strengthen the organisation. We currently have four directors, and they meet on average once every six weeks for no more than 2 hours. The majority of meetings are remote.

We are looking for people who might have one or more of the following:

  • Direct experience as a grower or farmer or food producer
  • Are passionate about seeing more new entrant farmers in the region
  • Are interested in working to see more people from underrepresented groups access skills and jobs in farming
  • Experience of fundraising or wider charity sector finances

We also ask that you live in, or have strong ties to Bristol as a city.

We are working to have a more inclusive and diverse board, so particularly welcome applications from people who are underrepresented in food growing and the environmental sector.
