Bristol Food Producers is Community Benefit Society and a dynamic network of food producers in Bristol and beyond.  We are a cooperative, producer-led umbrella organisation that brings together people involved in local food production and distribution.  We represent each other’s mutual interests, devise ways of overcoming obstacles, create and seize new opportunities for everyone involved in growing, selling, processing and distributing local food.

Bristol Food Producers aim to support and increase local food production. This allows us to put local food back into the heart of the city and make it more resilient. Increasing food production means increasing the number of diverse and viable small enterprises as well as helping existing business to grow sustainably and efficiently.

Our origins lie in a number of meetings over the past few years, since the Who Feeds Bristol? report was published in 2011. In particular we are inspired by the need to “scale-up local food production” to support a thriving local food economy. Our work is underpinned by the values of the Bristol Good Food Charter and in turn contributes to a number of strands in Bristol’s Good Food Action Plan 2015-18.

“Within the next five years Bristol will become known as a leading sustainable food city, widely celebrated for its innovative network of urban food producers making effective use of a wide range of sites and innovative approaches.” Mayor George Ferguson, ‘A Vision for Bristol’

Bristol Food Producers Network Limited is a Community Benefit Society (Registration number: 7341) that was established with a Green Capital Strategic Grant in 2015 with 12 founding producer partners and 7 strategic partners, and is growing steadily.
